The faces behind BelMar

Welcome back Nelly

We would like to welcome back Nelly Molina to our team.  Nelly joins Miriella as part of our housekeeping team and is responsible for the north end apartments.  Nelly worked previously for Belmar Apartments about 2 years ago but had to leave due to personal commitments. It is great to have her back on the team.

Many of our repeat guests know already the people that give Belmar that personal touch it is so known for, but here they are and you can find out those things you always wanted to ask.

Chrissie Wootton – Operations Manager

Chrissie has been part of the Belmar team for the past 5 years.  She began as a dive instructor in 2006 and in 2008 was promoted to Assistant Dive Operations Manager.  During the past few years she has seen both the dive shop and the resort go from strength to strength..  In June 2011 Chrissie was offered the opportunity to become Operations Manager of both the Resort and Dive Shop.  Always motivated by a new challenge she accepted and is now focusing on keeping Belmar customer focused and helping our guests have a memorable vacation on Bonaire.

Anouk Bonenkamp - Assistant Operations Manager

Anouk was born and raised in Almelo, located in the eastern part of the Netherlands.
After finishing high school she started working as a buying assistant and in the evening she did her commercial education.
When she finished her school she started to work for a toy company and became a buyer. Then she moved to the beautiful capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, known for its’ famous canals, where she had a very good time.
Her parents took her on a holiday to Bonaire and it was love at first sight. So she visited Bonaire a couple of times more. After finding a job at Belmar apartments on her last holiday she decided that this is her home because this is where her heart is.
On her days off she is either diving, swimming, reading, cooking or meeting with friends.

Tineke Mourits - Office Clerk

Tineke was born and raised in Hazerswoude, in the western part of Holland.

After finishing highschool she went working at the headquarters of a supermarket as the secretary of the director. After 6 years she stopped working when her son and daughter were born, but as soon as the children went to school she participated in the business of her husband and had the administration under her concern.

In 2005 she came to Bonaire with her husband for the first time and they fell in love with the island. Tineke took a dive course in Holland so that she could be her husband's buddy when they would come back to Bonaire. The next year they bought themselves a house on Bonaire and made plans to move there. In January 2009 they moved to Bonaire and since October 2009 Tineke works at Belmar.

Wilma - Reservations

Ever wondered who is answering your emails and taking care of your island getaway?  Well that would be me.
My name is Wilma and no, I am not married to a certain club swinging rock dweller Smile

Born and raised at the Dutch North Sea coast, in the nice city of Haarlem, I decided to leave Holland and all of the certainty of a successful career behind to look for new adventures on warmer shores.

In Eilat Israel, where I did my dive master internship, I found my husband Jos who some of you might know as the technician of Belmar and its' sister resort Caribbean Club.  We have a son Marein, a.k.a Snorkelfish who was born in Hurhgada Egypt.

Our little family came to these southern Caribbean islands about 6 years ago and via Aruba we came to Bonaire in 2008.  The skies are blue, the ocean clear, the air is warm and the people are sweet.  Do you need to ask if we like it here?

In any case I love my current job as reservations agent for Belmar and I am looking forward to your emails, phone calls and chat requests.

Alejandro Gutierrez - Dive Instructor

Alejandro was born in Cucuta, Columbia.  His father took him for his first disover diving adventure when he was 11 years old, and he fell in love with the ocean ever since.  After completing his studies as an Electrical Engineer he worked for 7 years at the well known american chip processor maker, Intel in Bogota.  Even though he loved his job, the calling of the "big blue" was always there, which is why most of his holidays were spent diving in many places around South America and the Caribbean (Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Brasil, Aruba and the Bahamas).  In 2010 Alejandro decided to follow "the big blue's calling", so he became a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.  It wasn't long before he mixed his new job with his hobby as an amateur photopgrapher, and also became a PADI Underwater Photography Instructor.

When he is not working you can find Alejandro either underwater (Diving or Free Diving) or on his computer :)

Michelle Walker - Dive Instructor

Michelle was born in the USA and she fell in love with Bonaire when she started visiting the island with her parents.  Michelle and her husband made the leap and moved to Bonaire from California in 2010 and are currently loving the island life style.

Michelle completed her Dive Master and Instructor course with Buddy Dive and as of September 2010 joined the Belmar Dive team.

Michelle loves to cook and her colleagues are eager to try out her culinary skills.  She also enjoys biking in her spare time when she is not underwater.

Ebby Jules - Dive Instructor

Ebby joined the Belmar Dive Team in April 2008. For those of you who have visited Bonaire in the past may remember him from Toucan Diving where he worked for a number of years. Ebby is originally from Curacao and has lived on all 5 of the islands in the Netherlands Antilles.
Prior to working in the dive industry Ebby was a policeman and at the end of May 2009 he was offered a position back with the police force that he could not refuse.
Due to his love of diving Ebby still works for the diveshop during the weekends when things are busy and is still available for guided dives and courses on Saturdays and Sundays.
Ebby is very passionate about diving and enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of the creatures and reef surrounding Bonaire and is truly happy when his divers are also happy.

Miriela Thielman - Room Attendant

Born on Curacao but raised on Bonaire Miriela has two beautiful daughters. Before working at Belmar she worked as a room attedant at a big resort. She loves her new job at Belmar because of the small scale and therefore more intimate. When she has a moment for herself she likes reading and singing. On Friday night you can find her at La Terassa singing at rithem of the Caribbean Blues.
